Hi, I'm Ash.

I still remember what it felt like when I first began studying herbal medicine. It was as though an entire world had opened up before me, one that somehow felt both new and deeply familiar. Only later would I come to understand that this connection to plant medicine had been carried in the blood of my South American grandmothers. What I thought was a discovery was, in many ways, a remembering.

I've always been fascinated by the mysteries. Poetry, philosophy, music, magic, science—in herbalism, I found a place for all of it. Today, I'm a clinical herbalist, educator, and mentor whose work brings together the clinical and spiritual dimensions of herbalism. I love a complicated clinical case as much as I love a good story, a song, or an afternoon spent making medicine.

A little about my journey

I began my herbal education at the Berkeley Herbal Center, first as a student, then as a clinician and teacher, before eventually becoming Executive Director. So much of who I am today took shape during those years, both through the work itself and the people I had the privilege of sharing it with. During my time as Executive Director, I helped guide the center through a period of significant transformation, expanding its reach and deepening its commitment to accessible herbal education and community care.

But when I think back on those years, it's the smaller moments that stay with me—standing beneath the full moon in the desert, surrounded by a council of ocotillo, singing songs to the plants with everyone gathered around the fire; watching a student's eyes light up during their first encounter with a plant; seeing new clinicians find their confidence and hearing stories of herbal knowledge making its way into homes and communities.

Where I am now

My work moves between the clinic, the classroom, and the land. I see clients individually, teach herbal medicine, and mentor practitioners finding their own approaches to this work. I've also co-facilitated retreats in South America, bringing together plant medicine, ritual, and cultural exchange.

I know what it feels like to have your world opened by something you never knew you were searching for. I want others to experience that same possibility—to discover not only the medicine of plants, but something within themselves they can trust and carry forward. The plants have been some of my greatest teachers, and everything I create is, in some way, an offering of gratitude for what they've shown me.

With love,

Ashley Campos, RH (AHG)
